Obituary for William Thomas "Buck" Jones

William “Buck” Thomas Jones, 89, of Lancaster, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on July 12, 2014. He was born in Lynchburg, Va., son of the late John T. and Madie E. Jones. Mr. Jones was a World War II Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean D. Jones, sons, Christopher Hugh Jones, and his wife, Greer, Charles Dwight Deale and his wife, Melinda, William Cleveland Jones and his wife, Ellen and Stephen Thomas Jones; daughter, Carolyn Moore and husband, Jerry; numerous grandchildren; his sister, Mary Evelyn Dawson and his brother, Curtis Jones.

Mr. Jones joined the Navy in 1941. Upon honorable discharge, he promptly went to work for C & P Telephone Company. After 43 years of dedicated service, he retired from Bell Atlantic in Northern, VA as District Manager in 1988. He and his family then relocated from Leesburg, Va. to Lancaster, Va. on the beautiful Corrottoman River. He enjoyed his life there and will be dearly loved and greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a. m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at St. Mary’s Whitechapel Episcopal Church.
