Condolences

Condolence From: John Gayle
Condolence: Mrs. Carter was my sixth grade teacher at Tuckahoe Elementary in the 60’s. She was truly one of the best teachers I ever had. She was tough but at the same time compassionate. The lessons I learned from her were about hard work paying off in life resonated with me. She was very committed to her work. I picked up on this at a young age. I know also she was very proud of her family. She was the first teacher (and maybe the only one) that talked about her family. She was the only teacher where family members would pay brief visits to the class. This made her a regular person in the eyes of an elementary school purple. I still know family names even the fact that at least one of the sons went to Randolph Macon. I may remember this fact being a Hampden Sydney Grad. I want to express my condolences as I am sure she will be missed and to convey that she had a great impact on my life. John Gayle
