Obituary for Christine MacGillivray

Christine  MacGillivray
Christine MacGillivray, 83, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on April 20, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Romaine Freeman Button and Christine Vastbinder Button and the adopted daughter of Clifton John Adriance and Natalie Vastbinder Adriance all of New York. She was predeceased by sisters, Arlene G. Adriance, Flora Jane Adriance Vandusen-Cooper and brother Clifton J. Adriance, Jr. She is survived by her brother Burrell F. Adriance of Georgia.

Christine grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. She reunited with her birth father as an adult while living in Binghamton, New York. During her life she lived in New York, Ohio, and New Jersey before settling in Virginia in 1971. Christine taught Sunday school at her church in Binghamton and was an assistant 4-H leader. She had a passion for history and learning and that passion showed in her work as a Historical Interpreter for Colonial Williamsburg. She loved animals, enjoyed gardening and nature and most of all she loved her family.

She is survived by her children, Edwin S. Black, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of New Jersey, Theresa Lee Jackson and her husband, G. Allen of Jamaica, Va., Paul Michael Black of Williamsburg, Va. and Sherry Ann Black of Colorado; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Black and Audrey Black McCormack (N.J.), Christopher Flores (Hampton, Va.) and Matthew Flores (Pa.), Wesley and Jacob Brown (Colo.), Jesse Brown (N. J. ), Johnathon Williams (Christchurch, Va.) and James Williams (Germany) and six great grandchildren.

The family is very appreciative of the care that their Mom received in her last months from the Riverside Convalescent Center in West Point and is especially grateful for the care she received by her favorite nurse, Ashley.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a. m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Christ Church Parish, 26 Christ Church Lane, Christchurch,Va.
