Obituary for Peggy Walker Harding (Walker)

Peggy Walker Harding, 74, of Ottoman passed away on May 28, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton Smith Walker and Virginia Taylor Walker; brothers, Adrian A. Walker, Eugene C. Walker and Frances T. Walker and daughter-in-law, Mary Keyser Harding.

Peggy was a lifetime member of Corrottoman Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees and as Deaconess for several years. Peggy loved serving the Lord anyway she was able to and she deeply loved her church family.

Peggy was appointed as the Voter Registrar for Lancaster County in 1983 and served the county in that capacity until her retirement in 2011.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Emerson O. “E. O.” Harding, III; son, Emerson O. Harding, IV (Christie); daughter, Carlie V. Harding , all of Lancaster; grandchildren, C. Ray Harding, E. Rachel Harding-Griffith (Scott) , K. Riva Harding, Afton O. “Livvy” Gill, James R. “Jake” Harding and Jayson G. Gill ; step grandchildren, Colie C. Haydon and Cassie C. Haydon; great grandchildren, Emary Harding, Rylan Tyers, Grant Griffith and Walker Griffith; brothers, Robert E. Walker (Gwen) of Ocean City, Md., W. Hobson Walker (Jean) of Asheboro, N. C.; sisters, Carolyn W. Williams and Mary W. Brent both of Lancaster; sisters-in-law, Janice D. Walker and Irene L. Walker and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Peggy’s life at 1:30 p. m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Corrottoman Baptist Church with the Reverend David Cromer officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Corrottoman Baptist Church Scholarship Fund or the Corrottoman Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 48 Ottoman Ferry Road, Lancaster, VA 22503
