Obituary for Maida George Dameron (George)

Maida George Dameron (George)
Maida George Dameron, 57, of White Stone, Virginia went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 26, 2015.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, faithful Christian, and tireless in her selflessness to helping others. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Alease George of Bluff Point, whom she loved and missed very much. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Mark Dameron; son, Bryant Dameron (Amanda) of Chesterfield; daughter, Catherine May (Jon) of Chesterfield and two grandchildren, Oliver and River May. Maida also leaves behind a sister, Margaret Headley (Don) of Kilmarnock.

Maida was a graduate of Lancaster High School and Smith-Dale Massey Business School.

She worked as a Trust Officer for Chesapeake Bank and a bookkeeper and manager at Kilmarnock Antique Gallery. She was originally a member of Morattico Baptist and later White Stone Baptist Church. Maida was a kind and generous person who always worked to serve others. She taught Sunday school and vacation bible school for many years. She worked with the Boy Scouts for over 20 years and was instrumental to the formation of Troop 235 in White Stone. She served on a number of committees at her church and was the WMU chair. Maida’s proudest achievement was founding and organizing her mission shop, “An Extra Helping Hand” giving household items and clothing to families in need. Her joy was in giving to others, and in giving credit to the Glory of God for his blessings.

Maida was dedicated to her family, nurturing her children as a homemaker and steadfastly caring for her aging parents. She loved cooking and cherished family get- togethers around her dinner table. Even though her passing was sudden, her last moments were peaceful as she was surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, July 29 at White Stone Baptist Church with interment to follow at Morattico Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, July 28 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock.

Memorial contributions may be made to Northern Neck Food Bank, P. O. Box 735, Warsaw, VA 22572.
