Obituary for Elliott Earl "E. E. " Delano

Elliott Earl "E. E. " Delano
Elliott Earl "E. E. " Delano, 81, of Wicomico Church, Virginia passed away on November 13, 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan Hall Delano; his son, Thomas Delano (Sharon) of Weems; his daughter, Caroline Brown (Tim) of Charleston, S. C.; his step-son, Hunter E. Hall of Burgess and two grandchildren, Lilly Delano and Collin Keyser.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Liston Delano and Kinsley Delano.

Susan considered her husband to be her dearest and truly closet friend. Everyone loved Elliott. He was a native of Wicomico Church, Virginia and was schooled at Wicomico High School, the class of 1952; the year his wife, Susan was born.

He owned and operated the E. E. Delano Oil Company during his lifetime, serving and selling fuel oil to his customers in the Northern Neck area.

Elliott was a waterman on the Great Wicomico River, "his river" until five years ago when he retired.

He was a spirited soul. People loved coming to his father's country store to buy oysters and crabs because he always had the gift of gab with the customers. Business was good. He loved to talk with people about seafood and he knew this was his career calling.

Elliott greatly enjoyed being a longtime member of Wicomico Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years and especially enjoyed the leadership of Rev. Lee Scripture.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p. m. Monday, November 16 at Wicomico Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wicomico Baptist Church, c/o Earl Hall, 2178 Remo Road, Heathsville, VA 22473.

We all take pride in remembering such a kind and jovial fellow as Elliott Earl Delano, husband, father grandfather and friend to many.
