Obituary for Warren Sanders Sellew

Warren Sanders  Sellew
Warren S. Sellew passed away in Mechanicsville, Va. on November 21, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Augusta Eubank Sellew; a son, Mark S. Sellew and his wife, Pamela, of Midlothian, Va.; a daughter, Pamela Sellew Siemering of Hickory, N. C.; five granddaughters, Amanda, Jenna, and Melinda Sellew and Elise and Nichole Siemering.

Born in Bartow, Fla. on October 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Herman J. and Ellen S. Sellew, and raised in Norfolk, Va. where he graduated from Granby High School.

Warren received a B.S, degree in Business Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University ( VT) in 1958 and a Masters of Commerce degree from the University of Richmond in finance and accounting in 1970. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War Conflict in the Military Police.

Warren began his working career with Seaboard Railroad Company in Richmond in 1958. He then worked for the Travelers Insurance Company in the Audit Department in 1960. From 1969 to 1972 he was employed by Wachovia Bank and Trust, NA in Winston-Salem, N.C. as Secretary-Treasurer in Wachovia Insurance Agency, Inc.

In 1972 he rejoined Travelers Insurance Company in their Audit and Accounting office in Washington, D.C., living in Manassas, Va. He was President of Capital District Insurance Audit Association. Warren and his wife moved to Kilmarnock, Va. in 1989 where he continued with the Travelers and retired in 1993. He was then owner of Sellew's Insurance Audit Company in Kilmarnock for ten years.

Warren was also a member of Kilmarnock Baptist Church and American Legion Post 86.

Funeral services will be held at Kilmarnock Baptist Church, 2p.m., Wednesday, November 25. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A military burial will be held at Morattico Baptist Church following the service with American Legion 86.
