Obituary for Frederick Steffen Kelsey

Frederick S. Kelsey, 92, of Merry Point, Virginia passed away on July 14, 2016.
He was born on June 30, 1924 in Pittsburg , Pennsylvania, son of the late Frank W. and Hedwig S. Kelsey.

He is survived by his children, Frederick Kelsey (Katharina) of Plymouth, N. H., Gregory Kelsey (Barbara) of Crystal Lake, IL, and Maryly Kelsey Skallos (William) of Rockford, MI; his grandchildren, Anton and Amy Kelsey, Steffen and Sara Kelsey, Whitman Kelsey and fiancé Nikki Nave, Evan Kelsey, Frederick and Jessica Skallos and Benjamin and Patricia( Skallos) Schnepp and his great grandchildren, Henry Kelsey and Logan Skallos. He was preceded in death by his wifew, Maryly S. Kelsey.

He was a graduate of the U. S. Coast Guard Academy in 1947 and served until 1949 and made the rank of Lt. JG. Mr. Kelsey was superintendent of Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp, Aliquippa, Pa.

He was President of the school board for Aliquippa, Pa. and for the Hopewell Independence Raccoon District (Hopewell IR District); past commodore for Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club of Kilmarnock and he initiated the Recycling Center for Lancaster County.

Mr. Kelsey was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who had the ability to make everyone feel special. He was also an avid sailor.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
