Obituary for Bernice Culver Shelly (Culver)

LEWISTOWN, PA-Bernice Culver Shelly, 84, formerly of Kilmarnock, died August 10, 2016.
Born in White Stone, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert A. and Amy Kelley Culver.

A graduate of Richmond Professional Institute, she worked as a fashion illustrator and copywriter for Richmond-area department stores. She later worked for a government cartography contractor, worked in the office of the Lancaster County Commissioner of Revenue, and held retail buying and management positions in Williamsburg, Richmond, and Kilmarnock before opening The Village Shop in 1992. In retirement, she volunteered at the Rappahannock General Hospital Gift Shop.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald L., Jr. and Cora Beaver Shelly,; three grandchildren, Ian H., Duncan R. and Liam A., all of Lewistown, PA, and her sister, Shirley Culver Bellows, of Kilmarnock.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Grace Episcopal Chapel in Kilmarnock with the Reverend David May officiating. Interment will follow the service in White Stone United Methodist Church Cemetery.
