Obituary for Rev. Paul Stanley Hopwood

 Rev. Paul Stanley  Hopwood
Rev. Paul S. Hopwood, 86, of Kilmarnock, Virginia passed away September 27, 2016. He was born October 30, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late John and Lucille (DeCamp) Hopwood.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughters, Sara and husband, Phil Edwards of Fortville, Indiana, Mary and husband, Dave Peterson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Martha and husband, Kevin King of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina; and by his son, Ruben and wife, Melanie Hopwood of Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Sarah and husband, Craig Kuhn of Glens Falls, New York, Anna Quirk and husband Barry Hofman of Scottsville, Virginia, and a stepson, Mike and wife, Jeannine Quirk of Syracuse, New York; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and by his sisters, Francis and husband, Leopal Day of Overland Park, Kansas, Jean Webber of Indianapolis, Indiana, Shirley and husband, Jack Walling of Lathrop, Missouri, and Virginia Elder of Olathe, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Philip Andrew Hopwood and by two brothers and three sisters.

Rev. Hopwood was a pastor in the Presbyterian Church for 40 years, serving various congregations in Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana, Arkansas and New York. Most recently he was a member of Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Weems, Virginia where he was a faithful member of the Men's Bible Study Group, taught Sunday School as needed and supported the work of the church in its care for those in need. He served in the United States Navy as a World War II veteran.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p. m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, Weems, Va. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, people make a donation to the Benevolence Fund at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 18, Weems, VA 22576.
