Obituary for Virginia Eileen Harnig (Myer)

Virginia E. Harnig, 80, of Weems, Virginia passed away on December 1, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Margaret L. Myer.

She is survived by her husband, David V. Harnig; sons; Curtis Deuel, Kenneth Deuel; daughter, Darlene Brotzman (Timothy); son, David Harnig (Brandi); six grandchildren, Timothy Brotzman (Laura), David Brotzman, Joseph Brotzman, Sawyer Harnig, Maggie Harnig and Addie Harnig; sister, Marjorie Page; brother, Robert Myer; step daughters, Pattyanne Chapman, Corinne Maybruck and Lori Anis and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph D. Myer, Jr. and step son, Charles "Chuck" Harnig.

She was the drum majorette for Beth Page High School in Long Island, New York and appeared on the Dick Clark show.

Mrs. Harnig worked for Grumman Aircraft Company in New York, Chilton Memorial Hospital in New Jersey as a ward clerk and as a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in West Milford, New Jersey. She moved to Sidney Center, New York after her retirement.

In recent years, Mrs. Harnig moved to Weems, Virginia, a place that had been dear to her since her childhood.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p. m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Living Water Lutheran Church , Kilmarnock, Virginia. Interment will be 10:00 a. m. Saturday, December 9 at Wesley Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Weems.
