Obituary for Carol Ann Towne

Carol Ann Towne died on November 16 after a long illness. She passed peacefully at home with all her children at her side.
Carol is survived by her husband of forty years, Harry B. Towne. She is also survived by siblings Margaret McGill (Don), Ann Hagedorn (Mark), Jay Toomey (Sandi); children Scott Taylor (Cheryl), Don Taylor (Julie), Lynn VanNess (Clovis), Richard Towne (Alecia) and eight grandchildren.
Carol graduated from the school of nursing at Hartford Hospital in 1968 and began a long career in nursing with positions in New York City, Oklahoma City, Ypsilanti, Michigan and Woodbridge, VA. She was the Department Director of the Maternal/Child Health units at Potomac Hospital for eleven years before moving on to the Emergency Department for six years. After moving to the Northern Neck she worked in the Emergency Department at RGH until she retired in 2012. Along the way she was certified in emergency nursing and inpatient obstetrical care.
She volunteered at the Northern Neck Free Health Clinic and at Reedville Fishermen’s Museum including a term as President of the Board of Directors at RFM.
