Obituary for Michael Kevin "Mike" Mrzyglod

Michael Kevin "Mike" Mrzyglod
Michael Mrzyglod, 46, passed away October 23, 2015 at his home in Heathsville, Va. after a brief illness.

A graduate of Woodbridge High and a life-long resident of Virginia, Mike leaves behind his parents, Patricia and John Mrzyglod of Heathsville, Va.; his sister, Michelle Morgan and her husband, Joel of Newton, Pa.; nephews, Garrett Morgan of Stamford Ct. and Ryan Morgan of Spartanburg, S.C.; a paternal grandfather, Edward Mrzyglod of Webster, Mass.; a maternal grandmother, Martha Parmer and Aunt Laurie Webb of Pine Mountain, Ga.

An avid sportsman, naturalist, and fisherman, Mike spent countless hours teaching others the joy of fishing and the outdoors. He also enjoyed running marathons and did so by running in marathons from the District of Columbia to California. Mike also visited Chile with friends to enjoy the spectacular scenes of their national parks. A devotee of our National Parks system, Mike loved hiking the trails of our National Parks and visited parks across the country from Acadia National Park in Maine to Glacier National Park in Montana. He was in awe of the beauty of our park system and his wishes were that in the event of his death, his life could best be honored by contributions to our National Parks. Donations may be made online at www.nationalparks.org or by mail to the National Parks Foundation, ATTN: Gift Processing, 100 Vermont Ave., Ste. 200, Washington, D.C., 20005.

In keeping with Mike's wishes, he will be cremated and no memorial service will take place. A final memorial/celebration will take place in June of 2016. This event will be a celebration of his life and will be held at the family residence in Heathsville, Va.
