Obituary for Robert Stevens "Bobby" Forrester

Robert Stevens "Bobby"  Forrester
Robert Stevens (Bobby) Forrester, 69, of Lancaster, Virginia passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the son of Robert Henry and Gladys Stevens Forrester who predeceased him. .

A life-long citizen of Lancaster County, he was a 1967 graduate of Lancaster High School. He earned an Associate Degree in Business from Bluefield College in 1969 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1973.

Mr. Forrester taught in the Lancaster County Public Schools for seven years after which he taught residential carpentry at the Northern Neck Technical Center in Warsaw. He was a Class A carpenter who inspired and encouraged many young people at the school for 24 years.

He was a member of the Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years and a member of the Lancaster County Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) of which he was the president for the 1976-1977 year. A life membership in the Virginia Jaycees was conferred on him in 1978. He was a life member of the Lancaster County Moose Lodge No. 2527 of which he was one of the Governors. Mr. Forrester coached Little League Baseball in the county and coached football at Lancaster High School. In the continuing spirit of mentoring young people, he was a scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 222 in Upper Lancaster County. He was a former member of Lebanon Baptist Church and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Lumpkin Forrester; sons, Robert Brian Forrester (Jaclyn) of Richmond and Kenneth Roane Forrester of Gallatin, TN; daughter, Mary F. Stearly (Steve) of Spokane, WA and a grandson, whom he adored, Jared Roane Forrester of TN. He is also survived by his four step grandchildren, Raley, Seth, Ethan and Madison Stearly.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p. m. Friday, November 24, 2017 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p. m. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the funeral home with burial at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
