Obituary for Anne Marie Wigner Jones (Wigner)

Anne Marie Wigner Jones, 74, of Kilmarnock, Virginia passed away July 15, 2020. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in Windmill Point and Irvington, Virginia. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice Mather Bowen, John Douglas Wigner, step father, Jeb Bowen, and step mother, Julia Headley Bowen. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Jones, Jr. (Bobby) married 57 years; her two children, Kathryn Marie Humphreys and Robert L. Jones III (Robbie); daughter-in-law, Laura Leigh Jones, and son-in-law, Joseph H. Humphreys (Joey); five grandchildren, Logan Jones Sweaney and husband, Shawn M. Sweaney, Zach Jones and his wife, Kayla M. Jones, Andrew Jones, Joseph Humphreys, Jaclyn Humphreys (Jackie) and Jackie’s fiancé, Dustin Crenshaw; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Clare Sweaney; her brother, Reverend Dr. John D. Wigner, Jr. and his wife, Nancy Hein; sister-in-law, Vivian Jones Trolan; and cousin, Theresa Kusterer Drechsler; and nephews, Preston D. Wigner and Jesse M. Wigner.

She had worked as a home decorator, hair stylist, bookkeeper, several retail stores, pharmacies, the Family Maternity Center of the Northern Neck, as well as various volunteer work. She was an avid member of the Wicomico Episcopal Church and served on its Altar Guild for many years.

Above all else, Anne Marie loved deeply her family and friends. Being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was her greatest joy in life. But she also loved art (especially painting), music (especially rock), reading, boating, and the beach. She loved life and would always see the best in every situation, and in everybody.

A private ceremony will be held at a family’s home. A memorial will be held at a future date. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for all thoughts and prayers during this time.
