Obituary for Benjamin Franklin Northern

Benjamin Franklin "Tom" Northern, 87, of Mila died on July 15, 2020. He was the widower of Julia Ann Northern and a retired electrician for the U. S. Government. He was a member of the American Legion Post 86, a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War Era, a member Mila United Methodist Church and a beloved baseball fan.

Surviving are his children, Debra Ann Hoffman and husband, Timothy of Jacksonville, N.C., Bruce E. Northern of Mila and Michael A. Northern of Fayetteville, N.C.; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Jeanean Abbott of Mila; brothers, Eugene Northern and wife Vera of Wilmington, N.C., John W. Northern, Jr. and wife, Sue of Montana. He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Northern, Sr. and Myrtline Keyser Northern.

He was an avid fan of the Lancaster High School Baseball team and the American Legion Post 86 Baseball team.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21 at Mila
Community Cemetery, Mila. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 20 at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock.
