Betty Vaughn, age 90, of Irvington, Virginia, formerly of York, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2020.
Betty was born December 22, 1929 in Rumford, Rhode Island, daughter of the late Elliot and Elsie Broadbent. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston with a B.S. degree in Dietetics. Betty completed her dietetic internship program at Massachusetts General Hospital and subsequently passed the national exam to earn the professional title of Registered Dietician. Later she attained the CDE - Certified Diabetes Educator designation. Her career at York Hospital spanned 25 years, working on staff and in later years managing the dietary internship program.
During college, Betty met her beloved husband Robert (Bob) of 66 years. Betty and Bob enjoyed playing bridge together at the University Club of York, Pennsylvania. In retirement, she achieved her ACBL Life Master. Betty participated in classes at the Garden Club of York. At the York Art Association she enjoyed painting and occasionally showed her work.
Betty is survived by her husband Bob; daughters, Audrey Vaughn and Carol Vaughn, son, Bruce Vaughn, and seven grandchildren.
