Obituary for Edna Lewis "Katy" Bush (Lewis)

Edna Lee (Katy) Bush, passed away on Thursday, November 14th, with her family by her side. She is at peace now.

Katy was born on January 5, 1933, to Hilda and Grayson Lewis. Upon her father’s death and mother’s remarriage, Katy and her siblings were adopted by her step-father, Dandridge Davis.

Katy was the postmaster of Lively for thirty years and was an active member of Lebanon Baptist Church where she was Clerk/Historian, for forty years. She was also a very beloved Sunday School teacher.

Always generous with her time, Katy delivered Meals-on-Wheels to shut-ins and was a volunteer reading tutor for elementary-school-aged children in the Lancaster County School System, following her retirement from the U.S. Postal Service.

Katy was predeceased by her beloved husband, H. Eugene Bush, her parents and her brother, Grayson Lewis.

She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Abbott, Marjorie Hanks and Olive Thrift, and by her four loving sons David (Diane), Darryl (Sheri), Dean (Mary) and Dexter (Teresa). Also surviving Katy are her grandchildren, Tiffany Bush Mitchell (Billy), Justin Bush, Sean Bush, Brandon Bush (Jessica), Shannon Bush Westman (Dustin), Bridget Bush, Todd Bush (Shelby) and Julianna Bush and by her four great-grandchildren, Jackson Bush, Chloe Bush, Weston Bush and Kallie Bush.

The family wishes to thank Katy’s caregivers, Helen Holden, Michelle Holden and Gwendolyn (Nita) Ball, for their devotion to her, over the past several years.

A service was held on Sunday, November 17th, at 2:00 p.m., at Lebanon Baptist Church, followed by a reception in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

Katy was a wonderful, strong woman and will be missed deeply, by all who knew her.
