Obituary for Faye Rich Smith

Faye Rich Smith, 71, of Kilmarnock, Virginia passed away March 9, 2019 surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Faye was a devoted mother, wife , and friend to many. She was born on August 27, 1947 in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late Robert Irvin Rich and Inell Compton Rich. She graduated from E. C. Glass High School, Lynchburg, Virginia in 1965 and from Phillips Secretarial college two years later.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William H. Smith, IV and resided in Kilmarnock for 44 years. She is also survived by her son, Troy Smith (Lynn) and grandchildren, Devin and Hailey of Lively, Virginia; her daughter, Tina Beierly (Robert) and grandchild, Brayden of Gloucester, Virginia; three nephews, Charles and Tommy Campbell of Georgia and Robert (Terri) Campbell of South Carolina; along with her lifelong friend and confidant Leegie (Steve) Kirby of Lynchburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Campbell.

She was a retired General District Court Clerk with 37 years of service. She served the counties of Essex, Northumberland, and lastly Lancaster County. She had a heart of gold and gave a smile and helping hand to anyone she met. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories and a legacy of kindness, compassion, and humility. She was strong in mind and spirit and stood up for everything she believed in on a daily basis. Those that knew Faye would all agree that she was one of the kindest souls to walk this earth.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p. m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Family will receive friends 1:30 p. m. - 3:00 p. m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
