Obituary for James Stanley "Stanley" Lewis

James Stanley Lewis, 93, of Lancaster went to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

He was a strong, loving, caring Christian husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, and a lifelong active member of Corrottoman Baptist Church, Ottoman, where he served as a Deacon, Deacon Chairman, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Counting Committee and a faithful member of the Sanctuary Choir.

Stanley was a World War II veteran, who served his country in the U. S Army. He was wounded in combat during the American Campaign Liberation of the Philippines on April 24, 1945.

He was a waterman during his lifetime and absolutely loved visiting friends in the neighborhood and spending time with his family.

Stanley is survived by four daughters, Connie L. Kennedy of Lancaster, Phyllis L. Efford of Kilmarnock, Sherry L. Vanlandingham ("Van") of Lancaster and Jody L. Harvey ("Harvey") of Mathews; one son, Joel C. Lewis (Joanna Moody) of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; two brothers, Calvin T. Lewis and Raymond W. Lewis both of Lancaster and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley R. Lewis; twin sons, James Dale and Joseph Wade Lewis; his parents, Joshua and Eva Walker Lewis; his sister, Lydia L. Bryant; his brothers, Randolph Lewis, Hampton Lewis and Gene Lewis.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Corrottoman Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p. m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Currie Funeral Home.
