Obituary for John Cleveland Marsh, III

John C. Marsh III, 81, of Chesterfield, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 7, 2022. Mr. Marsh attended Lancaster County High School and graduated from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia. He graduated from Old Dominion University and also attended the College of William and Mary to further his education. Mr. Marsh became an Architectural Engineering Consultant for Dominion Energy at James River Plaza in Richmond. His career with Dominion Energy spanned roughly thirty years.

Mr. Marsh was a dedicated member of Gospel Baptist Church, of Turner Road in Richmond, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He also enjoyed his time as a member of the worship choir and additionally served on the grounds committee at the church. Mr. Marsh was also a private pilot and served on the Chesterfield County Airport Board.

He is survived by his wife of fifty seven years, Lillian Turner Marsh; his son John C. Marsh IV of Virginia Beach and his wife, Judy Walker Marsh, his son Noah and daughter Logan. Mr. Marsh is also survived by his daughter Janet Marsh Brey of Mint Hill, North Carolina and her husband Pastor Larry C. Brey, son Corbin and three daughters Daelyn, Karsyn and Lenya. Mr. Marsh is also survived by his daughter Jennifer Marsh Idstrom, her husband Roger Idstrom and sons Dane and Logan of Brentwood, Tennessee.

A graveside celebration of Mr. Marsh’s life will be held on November 19, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Lebanon Baptist Church in Lively, Virginia. Pastor Jeffrey Smith of Gospel Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia will officiate. Mr. Marsh’s cousin, soloist David Rice of Mechanicsville, Virginia, will sing Mr. Marsh’s favorite hymn. All funeral arrangements will be handled by Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock, Virginia.
