Obituary for Richard John "Dick" Orosz

Richard (Dick) Orosz age 95 passed away quietly in his home of Kilmarnock, VA on 1/6/2023. He was born in Eckman, WV on 12/3/1927, son of late John & Anna Orosz. He resided most of his life in Stratford, CT while spending the last 24 years in Kilmarnock, VA.

As a young man he proudly served 2 years in the Navy as a pharmacist’s mate serving in Corona, CA assisting surgeons as they operated on soldiers during WWII. He returned home to Bridgeport, CT and became Supervisor of the Maintenance Division for Remington Arms for 36 years & retired.

His love of life became apparent in all forms: flying his airplane, camping, boating/fishing, kayaking, bowling, photography, working in his workshop. Traveling to countries with Marilyn and dancing the night away! Upon retirement, they located to Florida and settled in Kilmarnock, VA and were members at Indian Creek Yacht & Golf CC.

Dick loved The Lord, he was a valued member of the Grace Church Yard Sale as he repaired donated items for the yearly sale, he could fix anything! As a member of Campbell Presbyterian Church in Weems, he used his photography skills to record events at church functions and volunteered for the weekly coffee hour. He was well known for his warm hugs given to everyone who wanted one. He always had a smile and was loved by his church family.

Dick is predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years Marilyn (Held) Orosz who passed away on 2/4/2001. Also, predeceased by brothers, Johnny, Steven and sister Margaret and survived by sister Patty Orosz. He is survived by his three children, Sandra Stegner (Dale), Kathleen Martin, Raymond Orosz (Sharon), and blessed with nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Dick is also survived by his companion of 22 years Kathy Pointer and a friend of Dick and Kathy’s, Shelley Gummerson their closest friend who has been a guiding light to them throughout his journey.

The family is thankful for the kind, loving and professional care provided by the dedicated nurses from the RGH Out-Patient Infusion Center. With their care, he was taken home to the Lord in peace.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a. m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, Weems, Va.

Remembrances in memory of Richard may be made to the RGH Center or to any organization benefiting the Veterans of the Armed services.
