Obituary for Shirley Culver Bellows

We sadly but joyfully said goodbye to our loving mother, Shirley Culver Bellows the morning of May 13, 2021. She passed peacefully with wonderful Hospice Care at Memorial Regional Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. Shirley was the daughter of the late Amy Kelley Culver and Gilbert Arthur Culver. She grew up on the beautiful beaches of the Rappahannock River at her much loved home White Stone Beach. Mom was the loving wife of William L. Bellows, Jr. who preceded her in death, along with her dear Baby Boy Bellows her first born and her sister, Bernice Culver Shelly. She is survived by her four children, Penny B. Pratt, William L. Bellows, III (Susie), Judy K. Bellows and Timothy C. Bellows (Laurie). eight grandchildren, Margaret, Nathan, James, Amy, Abby, Hunter, Jennifer and Jonathan and two adorable great grandchildren, Chase and Ava. Her family was her life and we all know how full of life and fun she was. Never a dull moment when you were with Shirley, (Mom, Grandma, Gammie, aka Beatrice).
Mom worked in the Lancaster County School System for 20 years. Former students still remembered and recognized her even at 94. She was loved. Rappahannock General Hospital was a big part of her life working as a volunteer for 22 years. She loved helping those in need and so enjoyed her RGH family. They too still remember her pushing patients up and down the halls always with a smile and a kind word. Last but most certainly not least Mom had a strong faith in God and always knew without a doubt where she was going after leaving this temporary home. Thankfully she instilled that same faith in us. She was a member of White Stone Methodist Church as a youth and Kilmarnock United Methodist Church in her adult years, another important part of her life. We have great peace knowing our Mother is healed and healthy dancing on Streets of Gold. Heaven has another beautiful angel.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22,2021 at Kilmarnock United Methodist Church, Kilmarnock. Interment will be in White Stone United Methodist Church Cemetery, White Stone. Friends may call 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Friday, May 21,2021 at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock.
