Obituary for Victor Henderson "Vic" Rollins

Victor Henderson Rollins, 79, of Heathsville VA, died 23 January 2021 due to complications from cancer and phenomena.
Vic is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary (Madge) Rollins; his son Victor Rollins (Jr.) (Michelina);daughter Julia Springer; two grandsons Jakob Rollins and Joseph Springer; brother Virgil Rollins and sister Juanita Reeves.
Vic was a man that loved and defended our American freedom. He was a Vietnam veteran. He didn't celebrate Veterans Day. It was not a day of celebration to him. It was instead a reminder of the tragic experience’s soldiers endured during that time and the loss of so many fellow soldiers and friends. It was also a reminder of the terrible treatment they received when they got back home. He served 22 years in the military, starting in the Marines (underage), and retiring from the Army.
He loved having a good glass of merlot and was a creative and entertaining storyteller. Give him a bushel of crabs with that, and it would be his favorite afternoon. Vic also loved being outside and worked as a Park Ranger for many years. The park employees loved him for his incredible talent to build anything, "work smarter, not harder" was his motto. He could make anything you asked him to; bridges, sheds, chairs, even managing and orchestrating the construction of the new American Legion Post 10 in Manassas, Virginia. He also served twice as the Commander for the Legion.
He had a wonderful retirement of almost 20 years in Northumberland County in Northern Neck Virginia. He loved his neighborhood of Chesapeake Harbor (CH) and supported the Homeowners Association as President for 4 years. He provided valuable expertise as a member of the CH Water System Committee for 10 years. He gave back to the community with his time and energy, becoming an EMT, CPR, First Aid Instructor, and ambulance driver with Northumberland Volunteer Rescue Squad. He also lent a helping hand to Mid-Country Volunteer Rescue Squad where his wife still volunteers as an EMT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad , P.O. Box 355, Heathsville, VA 22473.
