Obituary for Violet Scott Saunders

Violet Scott Saunders passed away on January 1, 2021 in Kilmarnock, Virginia. She was born on April 7, 1923 in King George County, Virginia to the late Wesley Thomas Scott and Fannie Mae Pates Scott of King George. She was raised on the Scott Farm with her siblings, John, Dick, Gusty, William, James, Rose, Myrtle, Ruth, Sue and Thelma. She moved to Reedville where she raised her family until moving to the Commonwealth Assisted Living in Kilmarnock. Violet was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by sisters, Sue Northern and Thelma Archer. She is also survived by six sons, John "Pete" Haynie, Harry "Jake" Haynie (Becky), Leslie "Frankie" Haynie, III, Michael Haynie (Rebekah), Larry Saunders and Jeffrey Saunders (Joy); 12 grandchildren, Lesly Hall, John Haynie, Jr., Bryant Haynie, Brett Haynie, Robert Haynie, Jr., Michael Brooke Haynie, Christian Haynie, DeAnna Dean, Amanda Saunders, Derrek Saunders, Joshua Saunders and Jamie Saunders; 14 great grandchildren, Jessica Haynie, Dylan Hall, Brady Haynie, Sarah Hall, Susan Haynie, Elizabeth Haynie, Dylan Haynie, John Haynie, Joseph Haynie, Lucy Grey Haynie, Morley Haynie, Amya Jones, Kaeden Dean and Giovanni Martinez and great-great grandchildren, Wyatt Hall, Jordan Hall, Avery Haynie, Riley Kate Haynie, Isabelle Loving and a baby girl due in April. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver H. Saunders, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Bette "Cookie" Haynie; and grandson, Leslie F. Haynie, IV.

Violet received exceptional care from the staff of the Commonwealth in Kilmarnock and the staff of Hospice of Virginia. Due to the pandemic, memorial services will be held at a later date.
