Evelyn Aleise Pugh Lankford, 94, of Lancaster died May 30, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Herbert L. Lankford, adopted son, Gary L. Lankford, a granddaughter, Lisa Simmons Morgan and great granddaughter, April Cynthia Watson. Mrs. Lankford was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church, an active member of the Altar Guild and the Women of Trinity, both in which she held many offices. As a Lancaster County School bus driver for 50 years, she received letters of recognition for outstanding service by President Ronald Reagan and Governor Charles Robb.
Surviving are three daughters, Irene L. Walker of Lancaster, Madeline L. Withers and husband, Dr. Nathaniel Withers of Richmond, Shelva L. Gaskins and husband, Ryland C. Gaskins, Jr.of Ditchley; five grandchildren, Gwendolyn W. Morgan, Vicki S. Watson, Jennifer Sheeran Spencer, Belinda Jean Gaskins and Dr. Ryland Gaskins, III; six great grandchildren, Jessica Morgan Sitzer, Corey Morgan, Michael Gaskins, Mark Gaskins, Lara Spencer and Logan Spencer.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 2 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lancaster with Rev. Joseph Douglas Forrester and The Rev. Torrence Harman officiating. Interment will be in in St. Mary’s Whitechapel Cemetery, Lively. Pallbearers were William T. “Bill” Hayden, Edwin Barrack, Allen Pugh, Brent Self, Ronald Self and Kenneth Jett.
