Obituary for Laura Jane Clowers

Laura Jane Clowers
Laura Jane Clowers, 52, of Reedville, Virginia passed away peacefully early Friday morning, June 24, 2016 at the Lancashire in Kilmarnock.

Laura was a faithful and dedicated member of Afton UMC in Ophelia. She was born with spinal bifida and faced many challenges in her lifetime and was confined to a wheelchair for 39 years. In spite of her challenges, Laura's ambition in life was to make a contribution to the greater cause. Her personal testimony inspired so many and she willingly gave of herself in serving the needs of others. To know her was to love her. Laura's passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, her friends, and the congregation of Afton UMC. She touched the hearts of so many and they will be sustained by the fond memories they have of Laura and her love for people, her church, and her God.

Laura is survived by her mother, Edith W. Clowers; one sister, Susan C. Pike and her husband, Dr. Mark Pike of North Carolina; one brother, Clifton C. Clowers of Florida; one uncle, John Wright of Pennsylvania and six nieces.

A memorial service will be held at Afton United Methodist Church in Ophelia and will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Afton UMC, P. O. Box 579, Burgess, VA 22432.
