The things my daddy taught me..

How to change my own oil - Dad: " Now make sure you don't strip the bolt, and don't over tighten your filter. Make sure your drip pan is right underneath, and always put oil around the seal of a new filter." Me: "Ok Dad let me do this"

How to fish - Dad: " Make sure when you tie your line you pull that know around your lure atleast twice. Make sure you use atleast a #2 weight. Make sure your hook isn't showing through your bait or they won't bite" "Check your tides, and always grab a fish tight when you pull him off the line" Me: " Ok dad let me do this"

How to check my tire pressure - Dad: " Now when you unscrew your pressure cap don't lose it. When you put the tire gauge on push it down quick so it sets to zero then take it off. Then you can push it down tight to get a good read. Check your door to see how many pounds shes supposed to have. Get the compressor and even all four out the same." Me: "Ok dad I've done this one before" lol

I could go on for days listing all the lessons I've taken from that man. And each and every lesson came from love and wanting me to do the best I can for myself. Thanks to my kind, funny, loving father I can do so many things in his absence. Maybe not to his standards, but we get things done around our house no problem. And its all because of him that I can run genorators, change oil, batteries, tires, light fires, run our lawn mowers and equipment, use a chain saw, weed eater, use his tools and sanders. I can paint just about anything, I can use bondo, I can cook on our grill. I can plant a garden and spray for weeds. I learned SOOOO many things by watching that man.

He loved our family a heck of alot, but I think mom and I loved him even more. It is still very hard mentally without his presence around us. But sometimes I feel him with me and it brings my heart joy to know he never fully left us here alone. He was taken way too soon, but the best always are.
