My brother , Matt, and I were her first grandchildren, but we did not come to the family in the " usual" way. We were adopted by Helen's oldest daughter, Kaye, and her husband, Bob when we were nearly a year old. My mother told me the story of how we were readily accepted into the family by her parents and Grandmother. The first time they brought us home, we were immediately loved and were never considered any different than the other grandchildren who were " blood relatives". This is one of the greatest gifts she probably ever gave, to love two little ones unconditionally because her daughter loved them and chose to be their mother. Thank you Grandma, Grandad and Mamaw - that love u so freely gave without reservation allowed me to have the beautiful life I have now. There is no greater gift!
